Jessica’s Story

My name is Jessica and I have struggled with troubling acne for almost 7 years now. I am currently 21, in high school. I always thought it was normal to have acne and not to be able to leave the house without putting make up on. As I got older and got out of high school and into college, my acne did not disappear. In fact, it got worse. When I was 19, I moved out of my parent’s house and moved in with my best friend. What was supposed to be a really good time in my life was short lived because of a new type of acne I was forming. It is called nodule or cyst acne. This acne is very painful and can take up parts of your face, not as easy to cover up with makeup due to the large bumps. This was about a year ago, and I have been struggling with different medications ever since. I do not have any insurance at this point, and I have to pay out of pocket for all my dermatologist appointments and prescriptions. The most recent dermatologist I have has put me on 3 different types of medications to try combination therapy. These things would work temporarily, but it was almost like my body got used to these meds, so it stopped working. When I went back to school this fall I was short on funds and could not pay for continuing treatment. My dermatologist told me if the combo treatment did not work that she would put me on a medication called Accutane. This medication is very risky and can have serious side effects. I am very sick of having acne and having certain times throughout the month that I don’t even want to show my face, not even to my family. I am ready to try this medication called Accutane. I got this website from a friend and she said it helped her to get prescriptions. That is my story and thank you for listening.
