A Treatment for Opiate Dependence

I have been battling opiate dependence since the birth of my son. I had a caesarean section I was prescribed pain medication. I also experienced post partum depression. I was unhappily married and with the combination of pain and depression, I became dependent on the prescription pain medication for relief of my symptoms. This began my cycle of self-medicating. I was not aware of my depression, I just knew that I felt hopeless and the pain medication gave me temporary relief. For seven years I was in and out of hospitals seeking treatment for depression and detox. I also attended 30 day treatment programs. I also tried methadone treatment. This also did not provide a long lasting solution. In 2000, I was a patient at The Healing Place in Louisville, KY. I was there for 17 months. This seemed to be a working solution for dealing with my opiate dependence. After my treatment, I worked for the Hope Center for one year and continued in my recovery process. After living on my own and trying to raise my children as a single parent, I had difficulity dealing with my addiction. My psychiatrist recommended suboxone treatment. I also am prescribed Wellbutrin, Lexapro and Provigil. This combination has successfully treated my depression symptoms and successfuly handled my opiate addiction. It is my hope to ween off of the Suboxone under my doctor's supervision.
