Single Parent
I am a single parent. I have a kidney disease, applied for disability, been denied, and been on donor list for over a year. I have no medical insurance due to limited job openings since Katrina. I was doing temp work for landscaping, but due to the weather I was unable to work. I am trying to get a job at one of the casinos, and am waiting to hear back from someone. Nowadays, it is hard and nearly impossible due to rising gas prices and health care to afford much of anything, let alone travel some distance to work, since I live out in the country.
