Asthma

Monday, October 30th, 2006

I have had asthma since I was born. Now I am 55, and the colder weather is unbearable. Can’t work or be outside, jumping in and out of a tractor-trailer is for the young and healthy. So I cannot afford for MD’s or Rx’s. Is there any help out there for another breath of air? Desperate for air.

Diabetes And No Insurnace

Monday, October 30th, 2006

I am 19 years old and I have had diabetes for 18 years. Until now I have had insurance through my dads job, but no longer. My regimen consist of four injections of insulin four times a day and blood sugar results five times a day. As you can see this treatment is costly.

I only have a part time job and I am starting college in Jan 2007. I would like some assistance to take some of the burden off my parents.

Fibromyalgia

Monday, October 30th, 2006

I have been out of work for over 4 years due to pain, depression, and other problems associated to my fibromyalgia. I have finally gotten social security, but do not yet qualify for the drug program. I have just this found the correct medicines that actually help with my pain and make some days manageable. I am now unable to get these medicines because I cannot afford it.

Headaches

Monday, October 30th, 2006

I get headaches everyday and have been for years. The only things that help are alcohol, Advil and exercise. However, too much alcohol and Advil have rebound effects. Life sucks and so do doctors because they cannot help me with my disorder, yet they take all my money. Never go to a doctor for a headache or a migraine because they know nothing about them and they will be baffled when you try to explain what you might be feeling.

The Working Academic Poor

Monday, October 30th, 2006

I, like many of my co-workers, work for 2 of the 3 colleges in Peoria (all of which hire as much as 70% of their professional faculty/staff on a part time basis to avoid paying any benefits). I have need to take two drugs, that together total almost as much as my rent, costing $354/Mo.. I need the pain and ADD meds, to be able to work my jobs, but don’t qualify for disability because I do work. If I can take both on a regular basis I hope to be able to devote more time towards finding a full time position with benefits.
