Change of Heart

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007

I am a wife of 28 years, a mother of five children and 44 years old. In 1999 I begin to feel what I thought was aging coming on. I first had problems with my feet hurting and swelling. After many tests I was diagnosed with a rare form of nueropathy. Rare because I did not have diabetes, which would have made it more common. After a couple of years the medication begin to cause chest pain so I simply slowed down to finally I quit taking it. In December 2006 I begin to have chest pain and was diagnosed with bronchitis, again in January 2007, and again in February, April, May and then in the June bronchial pneumonia, which led my doctor to send off further tests. The end of June I took my mother for her appointment (same doctor), after we were done he informed us that my tests were back and it didn't look good, I would need further test. July 2, tests confirmed that I needed open heart surgery, my mitral valve needed replaced. On September 11, 2007 I had open heart surgery and although I still have some of the usual healing pains, I am feeling great!!

expense desparation

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007

Was in search of a way to cut my expenses without compromising too much. Wife is a diabetic and the kids (4) tend to get asthma when winter comes around. I spent some time talking to an informative and kind pharmacist that made me aware of this card. He uses it himself! It really could make a huge difference for me. I hope it does! Eric

Prescriptions Cost

Monday, October 22nd, 2007

My mother just started on maintenance medication for high blood pressure and the prescribed drug is not covered under her insurance. She has tried other medicines that are covered but they do not work as well so she pays the regular price for her prescriptions.

Burden

Monday, October 22nd, 2007

Since my stay in the hospital in Jan thru most of Feb, '07
I feel I am a real burden to my husband. Trying to pay for medicines and hospital and doctors bills is harder than hard. He lost his business due to taking care of me and hardly any dispatches for his trucking company coming in. I had had congestive heart failure, pneumonia, copd, and a blood disorder among other things like the "norm" arthritis and such for my age. I am currently taking eleven different meds and each week I die a little more inside when my husband goes for my weekly supply of prescriptions. He has always been a hard worker all his life, but now with trying to make enough money for my meds and taking care of me and the housework, makes me a real burden to him. He says I'm not a burden, but what do you think? I LOVE that man!

My Health

Monday, October 22nd, 2007

I take care of my Mother and I have some health problems of my own. I'm unemployed because of my back problems and I'm trying to get SSI, but it has already been 2 years and I'm still waiting for them to award me the SSI, if I'm fortunate enough to get it. Please help me stay healthy so I can take care of my mom.
Thanks
