Change of Heart
Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007I am a wife of 28 years, a mother of five children and 44 years old. In 1999 I begin to feel what I thought was aging coming on. I first had problems with my feet hurting and swelling. After many tests I was diagnosed with a rare form of nueropathy. Rare because I did not have diabetes, which would have made it more common. After a couple of years the medication begin to cause chest pain so I simply slowed down to finally I quit taking it. In December 2006 I begin to have chest pain and was diagnosed with bronchitis, again in January 2007, and again in February, April, May and then in the June bronchial pneumonia, which led my doctor to send off further tests. The end of June I took my mother for her appointment (same doctor), after we were done he informed us that my tests were back and it didn't look good, I would need further test. July 2, tests confirmed that I needed open heart surgery, my mitral valve needed replaced. On September 11, 2007 I had open heart surgery and although I still have some of the usual healing pains, I am feeling great!!
